First let me say that these are standard programs that get the job done thoroughly. And it is my guarantee that if you are not satisfied with your coaching, that you feel you have not gotten your money’s worth, then you get a full refund. No questions asked. Also, if you don’t need any of these full programs, or after you have completed a program you feel you need more, I also offer individual hourly session as needed. But before I get to the programs:
A Message to All My Little Snowflakes
You are unique. You cannot maximize your potential for financial, emotional, even spiritual fulfillment without first doing some serious self-reflection to create greater self-awareness and self-understanding. Within you is your guide map that is unique, and it is only your inner genius and the following of that genius that will maximize your potential. Keep in mind that most people don’t do this work, thus the majority go off and fail in school, work, and life. Nearly half the people in the U.S. admit to HATING their job. Most who go off to college don’t graduate, and of those who do, 70% within 5-10 years are no longer working in a field related to their major, thus wasting years if not a decade of time and leaving thousands of dollars on the table in lost income. Getting a finely tuned ‘you’ together to not only obtain a crystal clear picture of who you are but where YOU need to go is critical for your success, happiness, and fulfillment. We all are unique, thus my reason for playfully referring to my clients as ‘my little snowflakes.”
Keep in mind that in addition to the programs below, I also help clients with letters of recommendation, covers letters, resumes, and any questions or concerns that can easily be handled in a session or two with regards to less complex work issues, life snags, motivation, and so on, basically all glitches that you need an objective shoulder to lean on. ;o)
Onto the core programs.
1. For Those in College or Preparing for College
First a note of sympathy and warning. It is understood that college is very different from high school. Night and day. Especially if you have moved away from home. I empathize with home sickness, depression, and too much freedom (I dealt with all three my first time away at college). Yes, with all that freedom it is so easy to not get things done. You don’t have parents or teachers over your shoulder like you did in high school, nor are classes and time as structured.
That aside, the most important note of warning I can give is that YOU need to chose your major because it is what you want, not because you chose it based on what your parents want, or because that’s where the money is, you simply desire respect, or just because everyone else is choosing that major. This will result in years if not a decade or more of frustration, possibly to the point of hating your job, and lost income. I know this to be true, for I and dozens of people I know personally, clients included, have gone down this road. I don’t want you to go there. Enough said.
In addition, due to budget restraints there just are not enough high school and college counselors, meaning they don’t have the necessary time to give you, the student. But I am here to help.
Why Do You Need This Help?
This is a complex and involved issue and cannot be dealt in its entirety here. To learn more please go to the Home Page on my blog here and read “Got Education? How to Remedy Today’s Failed American Dream” (core materials covered in my seminars and workshops).
At the core is that you are not, first of all, being told that your government mandated education sifts the 100% to find the very few good in math and science who will fill the 5% of STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) jobs. The reason for this is that scientific innovation provides for more than half of the U.S. GDP (gross domestic product). Meaning, most of the money generated by the U.S. comes from the 5% of STEM jobs. To help the government generate income to feed the economy is good, and there is nothing wrong with being good in science and math, but that’s only about 15-20% of the population. What of the majority? Well, most walk around feeling dumb, left out, or ignored, not only affecting their ability to earn but to find joy in life. A sad thing indeed.
In college there are also major issues and shortcomings that the average college grad never becomes aware of. Most of this entails the inflation of grades, the de-valuation of the U.S. bachelor’s degree (to the point where U.S. grads are being relegated to low-paying non-technical jobs) and, most importantly, that the average grad lacks about 80% of what is needed to not only earn a good living but to build a foundational core that will enable the student to move from one career to the next (most will have 3-5 career changes by the end of their working life-time).
Hell, even the former president of Harvard, Derke Bok, states that “Colleges and universities, for all the benefits they bring, accomplish far less for their students than they should. Many students graduate without being able to write well enough to satisfy their employers . . . reason clearly or perform competently in analyzing complex, non-technical problems.” And even though many colleges may say they are giving their grads the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes “most business leaders are unsure as to whether graduates have the necessary skills to ensure economic competitiveness”; “educators question as to whether recent organizational changes have undermined core education functions”; and “The quality of student learning in U.S. colleges and universities is inadequate, and in some cases, declining,” Secretary Commission on Higher Education: A Test of Leadership (Academically Adrift: Limited Learning in College Campuses).
Most college grads are not getting what employers are clamoring for: communication-, critical thinking-, and complex reasoning skills for non-technical positions. And they also speak to the fact that most students do not have the necessary “attitudes, norms, values, and behaviors that are often at odds with academic commitment” (Academically Adrift).
I teach, coach, lecture, speak, and write from the most practical perspective: what do the majority need the majority of time in the majority of cases. This applies across the board, from the bottom up, left to right. I not only coach on what you’ll need for a career, but for several careers as well as how to build a solid foundation of character and behavior that will aid in sustaining you throughout life regardless of challenge.
So What Will You Get? What Do You Need?
- Support and encouragement
- Time to explore interests
- Assistance in setting priorities
- Opportunities to research options and test out possibilities
- Confidence in your abilities
- Compelling future vision and plan
- A person to hold the client accountable
You need coaching if the decisions have gotten difficult, frustrating and blurry. This coaching program provides time to explore interests, understand self thoroughly, develop a solid plan and goal; it even provides the intangibles that few college grads get: an understanding of success principles necessary for achievement, how to think creatively and intuitively for problem solving to make decisions regarding one’s major, career, all major life concerns.
What’s the number and length of the sessions, and how many are there?
These programs begin with 12 one-hour sessions over 3 months. It is up to the individual if he or she would like more sessions. This will be determined at the end of the 3 months. There will be unlimited emails between sessions. In addition, parents are more than welcomed to get involved in the coaching, being on the calls, and are free to email as well.
Don’t Worry. There’s a Free 50 Minute Session.
If you’re not ready right off the bat . . .
- First session is 40 minutes with the student and parent, if parent(s) is involved
- You will get an overview of the coaching program and process.
- You will get to know me and get to ask questions about anything.
2. For Those Just Out of College or in the Workforce a Short Time
This program is for college grads or for those who have never been to college who have been working a short time. With a little more experience under your belt, you have a little better understanding of who you are and what you are not willing to do to make money or establish a career. But like most people because self-understanding or analysis is not something that is taught in school you need a much better understanding of self. For how can a person who does not know enough about herself find a career that will match well enough with that which will provide not only a good income but contentment on the job and in life? To find a career that is right for you, you have to know you and match it specifically to a career, industry, even a company culture. Plus there just is so much about critical skills, knowledge, and attitudes that are never learned at home or school, most never picking up what is needed for greatest happiness, joy, and fulfillment.
Here is What This Program Will Provide (in any combination agreed upon by client).
- Self-understanding: personality / intelligence type, understanding of values, strengths or gifts, life priorities, and more–tailored to your specific needs and desires.
- Success principles: focus; accountability; cooperation; open-mindedness; self-confidence; self-control; critical, creative, intuitive thinking; benefiting from failure; and more–tailored to your specific needs.
- An understanding of company culture, how to match what you want specifically with a company that will provide it for you.
- Weaknesses and how to overcome those that are blocking career and life progression.
- How giving plays a critical role in your achievement.
- Critical, creative, intuitive thinking or that which will enable your ability to problem solve in career, work, and life decisions.
This program also comes with the free 50 minute session (see Program #1). Length and number of sessions also the same (see Program #1).
3. For Those Who Have Been Working a Good Number of Years.
You have been working for at least some five to ten years or more. However, you have gotten to a point where change is mandatory. You may even have had a considerable period of time where you have enjoyed and been rewarded by your career. You have considerable understanding of who you are and what you are willing to tolerate. However, for some reason, something is missing. And even though you have a lot of experience and self-understanding, you need an impartial third party as a sounding board. You most likely know that friends, family, even peers are too close and probably too under-experienced to help you.
You get all that you see in Program #2 and more or that which is deemed necessary as our meetings progress.
Contact me via email or you can call me at 818-626-3836. I am also set up to Skype (Jeff.Brown1234) if you are long distance in the US or reside outside the US. Call for your free 50 minute session today. Don’t delay. It’s your career and life. I’d love to see you on track. Peace!
